Saved Reports and Charts in Data Studio

Data Studio now lets you build, save, and revisit multiple charts and pivot tables on any dataset from a new Reports page, Journeys can add or remove people from static audiences, and audience pages and sign-in links are more reliable.

Features

  • Reports in Data Studio: Build a chart right next to any dataset and save it as a report. A new Reports page lists every saved report in your account (name, dataset, chart type, and last update) with search and delete, and opens each one directly in Data Studio. Reports are available to all users.
  • Multiple charts per dataset: A single dataset can now hold several charts. Browse, open, create, and delete them from the Visualization panel. Each chart has its own shareable link, and untitled charts are named automatically after their type and dataset.
  • Pivot tables: A new Pivot table chart type supports nested rows, an optional column breakdown, multiple values, subtotals and grand totals, and an optional heatmap to highlight high and low values.
  • Chart layout: Charts now open above the data table by default. You can still switch to a side-by-side layout, and the app remembers your choice. You can also view the chart on its own.
  • Static audience steps in Journeys: A new Journey step adds contacts to, or removes them from, a static audience. The audience picker shows each audience’s member count and list type and links to a preview. Journeys now use the same audience picker everywhere.

Performance

  • Data Studio loads faster: the charting library only downloads once you actually open a chart.
  • Large pivot tables no longer freeze the page. They show the first 1,000 rows with a notice, and totals still count every row.
  • Charts respond faster while you edit them. Outdated queries are cancelled, and resizing the chart panel is smoother.

Bug Fixes

  • Deep links now survive SSO sign-in, so users land on the page they were sent to instead of the account picker.
  • Fixed date columns in charts showing the previous day for users in time zones west of UTC.
  • Fixed leaving Data Studio with a saved chart open, charts drawing over stale data while a new query ran, and edits made during a save being lost.
  • Saving a dataset no longer creates an empty or untouched report. Reports flagged “Not valid” after a dataset’s columns changed are checked again on save.
  • Audience lists and audience detail pages: sorting now works correctly, sort options that aren’t supported were removed, status icons show and line up properly, and background refreshes no longer overwrite the list with stale data.
  • The Journeys audience picker now loads every audience instead of only the first page, shows the real error when loading or saving fails instead of a generic “Unable to load audiences” message, and blocks duplicate audience names when you create one inline.
