Features

  • Filters apply only when you say so in Data Studio: Filter edits are now held as a draft until you click Apply, so half-finished filters never change your results. Pending changes are marked in the navigation, you can discard them, and you’ll get a warning if you try to leave with unapplied filters.
  • Use values inside nested data in calculated fields: Calculated fields can now use individual values stored inside nested data, such as a contact’s first email address, and combine them with other columns.
  • See where your records come from: Records pages now show the data source ahead of the object name, with a link back to that source.
  • Remove columns straight from the table header: The column header menu in the Records list now has a “Remove column” option, so you no longer have to open the column editor.
  • Easier-to-read counts: Row and record counts in Data Studio now use thousands separators.
  • Clearer email template status: The email template editor now shows the selected message’s status and when it was last updated. Test sends are offered only for messages they apply to.
  • Updated tables: The Google Ads ad groups, global segment templates, and customer list screens have moved to the platform’s standard data table for a more consistent look and feel.

Bug Fixes

  • Clearer messages when a query fails: When a Data Studio query fails, you now see a plain-language explanation (for example, a connection problem, a busy system, or missing access) and a reference code to share with support, instead of a blank “No data to display.” When a query returns nothing, the screen says so and mentions any active filters.
  • Filters stay applied when tables change: Adding, removing, or swapping a table in Data Studio no longer drops your applied filters from the results.
  • Correct join labels: Data Studio now shows the join type each query actually uses, instead of always showing the default label.
  • No more confusing save warnings: Re-saving an older dataset no longer shows a warning about changes the user didn’t make and can’t fix.
  • Duplicating datasets works again: Duplicating a dataset from the datasets table no longer fails.
  • Accurate number display: “Unformatted” number fields now display values exactly as stored. “Formatted” numbers keep their decimal places instead of being rounded to whole numbers.
  • Email template saving: Choosing “Save and exit” in the email template editor now reliably saves before closing.
  • Table and dropdown polish: Table headers now line up with their columns, and opening a dropdown no longer makes the page jump.
